Custer did have a battle plan. Custer was implementing that attack plan when he was shot early in the battle. Subordinate officers made key decisions that ultimately ended in the annihilation of five companies of the Seventh Cavalry. This book is an important read to fully understand the Battle of the Little Bighorn.
